*The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, is a federal program that helps families and individuals afford groceries. Eligible clients receive an EBT card (similar to a debit card) that is reloaded monthly with an allotted amount of money. This card can only be used to purchase food.
